With the development of industry, corporation and consumer put a more and more precise demand on the geometry shape of strip. But the edge drop of strip reduces the use rate. So it is necessary to study the edge drop of cold rolled sheet. The research of this paper is very important to enhance the use rate of cold rolled sheet and control shape of cold rolled sheet.This paper first introduces the edge drop description of the strip, then analyses the cause of the edge drop of strip, which study the edge drop of strip from structural behavior and later flow of the strip.The edge drop of strip is simulated by using 3-D elastic-plastic FEM system. In the model, the elastic deformation of work roll ,the elastic- plastic deformation of the strip are taken into account. This system constructs 3-D FEM simulation solid with MARC to study the edge drop of strip from structural behavior and later flow of the strip.This system is empoldered to analyse the influence of many factors such as width, thickness, reduction , friction coefficient on edge drop of strip, which afford theory supervise for practice.Physics simulation about edge drop of strip has been made on the lab. This system has proved the correctness and reliability of model through contrast between calculation and experiment validation.
