Soil is one of important resource that we couldn't live without it; it also has important meaning to the quality of ecology environment and man's health. With the development of industry and up-date of agriculture, the pollution in soil becomes serious daily. The polluted by heavy metal in soil is a problem which global people have to face. Ni as one of heavy metal in soil is also this article's object. The article sum up the source of heavy metal,the character and the danger of Ni,the assessment about heavy metal in soil and the way about protection . To investigate the content of Ni in soil of Jilin City, use grid which spans 2km2, 51 samples of surface soil were collected from urban and suburbs of Jilin and then compute the content of Ni through the flame-atom spectrophotometric method.Compared the actual contents with the environmental background value of Songhua River Basin,the range of Jilin province and the whole country. Besides that in order to definitude the degree of pollution about Ni in Jilin City ,compared the results with the average content of pollute and uncontaminated in the same soil type .At the same time adopt the Soil environmental quality standard (GB15618-1995)use the single pollution assessment estimated the element of Ni .The result shows that the soil of Jilin were not polluted by Ni and the quality of soil in Jilin is also well enough. In addition, reveal the Ni's special distribution through GIS. The contents of soil Ni in Jilin are high in northwest district and low southeast district.
