Two experimental strategies were used to study the treatment of electrolytic manganese wastewater. One was using the flocculating setting to treat electrolytic manganese wastewater. Effects of different flocculation, dosage, pH and stirring intensity on the treatment of electrolytic manganese wastewater were investigated in details. The flocculation behavior and mechanism were evaluated as well. The other strategy was using the ion exchange membrane-electrolytic process to treat electrolytic manganese wastewater. The cation exchange membrane was chosen as the exchange membrane, while the plating ruthenium titanium was chosen as the anode and the stainless steel plate as the cathode.Research results showed that the poly-aluminium chloride (PAC)-poly- acrylamide was the optimum flocculation and the best dosage were 90mg/L of PAC and 50mg/L of poly-acrylamide. When the pH was 9.0, the best treatment result can be obtained in following conditions: inorganic coagulant was first added to the reactor and stirring slowly for 1 minute, and then another organic was added with stirring fastly for 2 minutes. Under the optimized condition, the removal rate of both manganese and hexavalent chrome reached 97.1% and 90.9%, which both achieved the first grade of the National integration emission standard of wastewater. How the hydraulic condition affected the wastewater treatment process is the key study point of the experiment. Through the study of proper addition order of coagulant, stirring intensity, and stirring timing, a scientific process control condition was set up for the practice of electrolytic manganese wastewater. The study result not only filled up the blanking in research, but also upgraded the treatment efficiency of electrolytic manganese wastewater. The study results also has good instructing significance to both the practical operating control condition of using flocculating settling for electrolytic manganese wastewater treatment, and also coagulate treatment of other wastewater. In the experiment of treatment of electrolytic manganese wastewater with the ion exchange membrane-electrolytic process, the results showed that when the distance between the pole pates was 3.0 cm, the pH value was 8.0 and the concentration of external manganese was 50 mg/L in cathode area, the voltage of cathode chamber was 2.4 v and electrolytic time was 5 h, a better electrodeposition efficiency could be observed. The liquid in the cathode area after treatment could meet the requirement of...
