With the development of our national economy, people would pay more and more attention to problems of energy resources and the environment. In some occations using glass such as the great windows and transparent sunshade of buildings, radiation of heat by sunshine makes people increase the frequency of air-condition usage, so people have been wasting much energy. Therefore the study on transparent and heat insulated materials not only has important significance theoretically, but also has market prespective widely.Nanometer antimony doped tin oxide (ATO) is n-type semiconductor and the film of nano-ATO has both high transmittance in visible light and shield percentage in infrared light. So if nano-ATO can be use in coatings to prepare "transparent heat insulated nanocomposite coating", the contradictory problem of transparence and heat insulation would be solved. That is transparent heat insulated coating has very big application value.The contents of this article include survey of nanocomposite coatings, dispersion of ATO nanoparticle, preparation of transparent heat insulated nanocomposite coating and study of critical pigment volume concentration (CPVC) of nanocomposite coatings.In survey portion of the article, firstly, described the concept of nanocomposite coatings and its preparation means in detail, secondly, inspected the recent development condition of nanocomposite coatings and transparent heat insulated nanocoatings in domestic and overseas.Dispersion of ATO nanoparticle is about study of the nano-ATO dispersing in water. In this section, researched influence factors of the dispersing stability of nano-ATO in water, such as pH value of dispersing system, dispersant types, use level of dispersant and dispersing craft. Afterthat analyzed the dispersing stability of nano-ATO in water by settling process, spectrophotometer and laser particle size apparatus, which its result shows that isoelectric point of nano-ATO is 2.
