Separation process is a very important unit operation in industrial process. The separation-effect and energy-consumption have a direct influence on the quality of products and the initial cost. The separation process by membranes has attracted increasing attention as an effective, energy-efficient and environment-friendship technique.Zeolite NaY has a three-dimensional pore structure and has a pore diameter of about 0.74 um. A continuous zeolite NaY crystal layer is formed on the surface of a porous tubular support to obtain NaY zeolite membrane. The membrane is suitable for separating large size molecule's mixtures, such as benzene/cyclohexane and MeOH/MTBE.Synthesis technique is the key point of zeolite NaY membrane's research work. In this study, synthesis of zeolite NaY membranes by conventional heating and microwave heating, respectively, were investigated.Firstly, zeolite NaY was synthesized by conventional heating. The influence of synthesis conditions such as gel composition and alkalinity were discussed in this thesis. XRD patterns and SEM pictures showed that zeolite NaY crystals could be synthesized in a large range of gel composition, but the crystallinity and the morphology were specific in differential gel composition. The high crystallinity of zeolite NaY was obtained in gel composition of n(SiO2): n(Al2O3): n(Na2O): n(H2O) =20:1:16:800 and 10:1:14:840. These two composition were also used as the preliminary composition for synthesizing zeolite NaY membranes. The influence of synthesis conditions such as gel composition, aging time, synthesis temperature and synthesis time on the morphology and the membrane performance was discussed. The optimized conditions were as follows: gel composition of n(SiO2): n(Al2O3): n(Na2O): n(H2O) = 10:1:14:840, aging time: 12 h, synthesis temperature 100°C, and synthesis time: 5 h. The membranes synthesized under this condition displayed high water selectivity in PV performance of water/alcohol and the results of membrane-synthesis...
