The conducting polymer, as a new cross-subjects research field, has been widely investigated by physical scientists, chemists and material scientists all over the world. Polypyrrole and its derivatives can be proposed in a number of applications because of their good environmental stability, excellent and changeable conductivity and easy preparation.In this paper, the new fluorescent compound N-ethyl-4-(pyrrole-1-yl)-1,8- naphthalimide was synthesized from pyrrole and 4-bromo-1,8-naphthalic anhydride and its crystal structure was studied.The new fluorophore-conducting poly[4-(N-ethyl-1,8-naphthalimide)-N-pyrrole] was synthesized with oxidant of FeCl3. The polymer poly[(1-methylene-2-methyl- naphthalene)-N-pyrrole] and poly pyrrole were also prepared by the same method. The doping polymers were prepared by doped with HCl and HClO4 respectively. The conductibilities of the doping conducting polymers were mensurated. The structures of the monomer and polymer were characterized by IR spectra, H1-NMR and single-crystal X-ray diffraction. The molecular weight of the poly[4-(N-ethyl-1,8-naphthalimide)-N-pyrrole] was mensurated by GCP. The characterizations of the polymers were studied by UV-Vis, Fluorescence spectra, XRD, SEM and so on.The result of study showed that the new poly[4-(N-ethyl-1,8-naphthalimide)-N- pyrrole] not only has the conductivity but also has good fluorescence, average particle size, and good film-formed.
