In textile industry, the filature needs to cooled by cooling air to meet the temperature requirements before it gets to the next working procedure after it is formed. The inconsistency of the velocity of cooling air may make the hot, light filature stick together which will cause much trouble and loss. So, nonwovens are used to help the velocity of the cooling airflow consistent. But the inhomogeneity of the nonwoven itself becomes a main factor in influencing the airflow when it passes the material. There are still no testing platforms which can help to determine the homogeneity of nonwovens till now. So, it is very necessary to develop a homogeneity testing system on nonwovens.Considering practical situations, we bring forward the method of homogeneity test. Scanning the filtering material and gathering the velocity can help to calculate homogeneity coefficient, approximately representing the pressure loss of every spot, thus the homogeneity or inhomogeneity can be determined. So the testing system is developed. We use computer as the core part of the system, use high precise air velocity collecting equipment, signal converting circuit, steper motor to realize automatic operation. We also develop the software by the popular program language-Visual Basic which provides a friendly man-machine conversation surroundings and access as the platform to store and inquire data. The software is easy to be learned, manufactured and developed.Based on the research of the subject, we realize the automatic operation in homogeneity test. The system can also test the efficiency and pressure difference, which will help the operator have a whole estimate on the nonwovens tested. After multiple tests, the testing system is proved to draw right conclusions and can be practically applied. The theory of homogeneity coefficient has guiding significance of later development and can also be used in other homogeneity test platform.
