With the progress of science and technology and fast development of the new high-tech industry, the hard and brittle materials are applied more extensively day by day; more attention is being paid to the research of the hard and brittle material ultra precision process technology. The principle of ED (Electro Discharge) truing is one kind of electric spark process , in which work piece and tool electrode spark of pulse discharge is utilized to separate metal material from work piece by means of instantaneous high temperature. ELID (Electrolytic In-process Dressing) is a new technology involved in electric chemical machining and electrolytic milling. It is a kind of new-type method of pruning and grinding in succession. The Metal-bonded fine grain diamond wheel after ED Truing is adopted to realize ELID grinding, which can be utilized to accomplish ultra precision surface grinding of the hard and brittle material.This test analyzed the ED technology, the grinding technology of hard and brittle materials, pruning of diamond emery wheel, the grinding principle and ELID grinding principle of hard and brittle materials, and so on. On basis of the research results of the latest ELID grinding and ED truing, experimental study of ED precision truing on Metal-bonded fine grain diamond wheel and ELID precision grinding were carried on. An advanced nanometers grade working bench and NUDAQ-2010 data collecting card were adopted in test, and Real-time monitoring and Data collecting system based on LABVIEW programming were introduced. Through adjusting the experimental parameter repeatedly, optimizing the procedure of testing constantly, and dealing with test phenomenon and test data, a law of ED truing on Metal-bonded fine grain diamond wheel and Si3N4 ELID grinding are summarized in the paper. The result will offer reference function in research of ED precision truing and ELID precision grinding in future,so is the application of the two combining in the future. Further more, a good result is acquired in the test: Round degree of Metal-bonded fine grain diamond wheel with ED precision truing is 0.8μm, and surface roughness degree of Si3N4 with ELID grinding is 1.0nm.
