Many coking plants and scientific research units are seeking the means of coke quality improvement for large-scale blast furnace and high rates of pci requirements. In order to compare the difference between the low temperature coal tar pitch from Jinxi zinc works gas generator and tarry residue and the medium temperature pitch from AISC Chemical General Plant, firstly, they were mixed respectively into blended coal from AISC Chemical General Plant at various ratios ,and then coked in the 1.5 kg small scale self-made coke oven. Finally, assess them by determining their chemical products output rate and performance.Distilling the low temperature coal tar pitch before coking tests, get the pitch with different volatile at different temperature. The results demonstrated the yields of the tar and crude benzol were improved differently, the yields of ammon remained the same, coke yields had been slightly declared during co-carbonization of coal with additions. For various coke strength, they were improved differently with different supplements except for tarry residue, especially low temperature coal tar pitch. But heighten scope was different with different volatile. I tumble strength get the maximum 81.2 when putting 5% addition of 2# pitch in it, which made the strength was more 3.7% than put none. For coke microstructure, the anisotropic property content declared when the addition was tarry residue, while the anisotropic property content increased differently when putting the pitch additions and get more CM and FT. it demonstrated that pitch had the ability to give and transfer hydrogen ,which changed the formation atmosphere of carbonaceous mesophase during co-carbonization.
