Abstract/Summary:
At present,γ-Al2O3 has been widespread used as catalyst carriers. Porousγ-aluminas are widely used as catalysts and catalyst carriers in chemical processes, e.g. the hydro-refining, the Claus reaction, the dehydrogenation of butane and the dehydration of alcohols. Therefore porousγ-aluminas with higher surface area, pore volume and suitable pore distribution are hoped to be synthesized. It took much time to research how to improve the surface area ofγ-Al2O3 catalyst supports, while pore pore structure was neglected. Recent years, the importance of suitable pore structure on the properties of catalyst was realized. The pore of catalyst carrier can provide reactant and resultant to affect the speed and efficiency of reaction. Therefore pore structure of catalyst carrier is important. The reaearch about controlling the pore structure wasn't enough. At present, the main method was to add organic materials as surfactant to use their induction and self-assembly to form network structure. The purpose of controlling the pore structure of catalyst carrier can be realized after calcining. Such common organic materials as polyglycol and polyethylene oxide were used, but they are expensive. The project chose natural, nontoxic and aboundant saccharide organic materials as surfactant, try to improve synthetical methods and adjust proportion of reactant to realize the purpose of the pore structure of porus alumina.This paper describes the preparation of porousγ-Al2O3 by two novel and simple methods : Liquid state co-crystallization process and Sol-gel process. In both processes,sucrose is used as an assistant agent to prepareγ-Al2O3. In the Liquid state co-crystallization process,aluminnium salt - sucrose solution system probably forms molecule-scale combination in proportion after heat-drying at a constant temperature by means of their constant solubility.
