The biguanide bactericides have been paid more attention because of their favorable bactericidal properties, high efficiency, broad spectrum, low poison and good environmental compatibilities. In this work, preparation of poly (hexamethlene bisguanide), (PHMB?H2SO4), as well as the intermediates, hexamethylenediamine sulfuric acid (HmDA?H2SO4) and hexamethylene-biscyanoguanide (HmBCG), were studied.HmDA?H2SO4 was synthesized by reaction between sulfuric acid and hexamethylenediamine, followed by evaporation crystallization. The influences of the addition ways and the ammount of sulfuric acid, reaction temperature on the yield of the synthesis were studied.HmBCG was prepared by reaction between HmDA?H2SO4 and sodium dicyanimide. The effects of solvent, reaction time, post treatment methods, drying temperature and time on the yield of the product were studied.In the synthesis of PHMB?H2SO4 by the reaction between HmDA?H2SO4 and HmBCG, The effects of reaction temperature, reaction time, reactant ratios and the addition of promoters on the final product were studied.The polymerization process was analysized by thermogravimetric analysis and differential scanning calorimetry. The enthalpy and reaction order were calculated. The mechanism equation was also obtained.The sterilizing effect of PHMB?H2SO4 was evaluated through a very simple method.
