In the paper, the acoustic emission mechanism and signals analysis technology is focused on during the course of pitting corrosion of metal.The main research contents include the acoustic emission mechanism, the monitoring experiments, wavelet analysis technique and Independent Component Analysis technique of acoustic emission signals,etc.Study on metal flat specimens of corrosion in three kind of different solutions. In the experiments, a number of acoustic emission signals are achieved, which offers metal corrosion can produce the AE signal, and the experimental seed for monitoring early corrosion damage of metal with AE technology.Parameter Analysis is applied on the acoustic sources produced in the process of metal corrosion. Parameter Analysis shows that the process of metal corrosion is divided into three stages: the initial corrosion time,the fast corrosion time,the stable corrosion time. And carries on the characteristic extraction using the parameter analysis study of AE signals in the process of corrosion, the amplitude of AE signal in the process of metal corrosion are achieved, they are accordant with theoretical analysis results. According to the characteristics of AE signals, the selection rules of wavelet basis are identified, also the wavelet basis is advanced which suit to the pitting corrosion AE signals wavelet analysis of metal. Problems are studied on signals denoising, characteristics picking up, and so on. The reliability of signals analysis is enhanced.Independent Component Analysis technology is applied on emulational experimental data including AE signals from corrosion and breaking pencil cores. Maximum ICA arithmetic based on kurtosis is validated to be corrected. Wavelet denoising method and ICA are combined to denoise and separate corrosion AE signals of metal. More work is focused on picking up characteristics of metal corrosion AE signals, and characteristics are obtained of metal corrosion AE signals.In the paper, AE monitoring and signals processing technique are systemic studied during the course of pitting corrosion of metal. The achievements can be helpful to the on-line inspection and evaluation of large atmospheric vertical storage tanks in petroleum, petrochemical and chemical enterprises.With these,the enterprises can get scientific criterion to maintain correlative equipments,raise testing speed of tanks,save inspection fee,prevent corrosion perforation and leakage of tanks,protect environment, etc.In a word,there are tremendous society benefits and economy benefits.
