With the development of lightweight in the auto industry, the aluminum adhesive technology has been widely applied to vehicle, adhesion has been become an assignment problem to study. We study the adhesive process and mechanical property of joint for aluminum adhesive joint failure behavior in this paper. The adhesive process is an important factor for adhesive joint mechanical property, so we need a suitable course. This paper optimizes aluminum adhesive process, such as surface treatment, thickness of glue and the ratio of adhesion, by theory analyses and single lap joint mechanical test. The experiment result shows the joints behavior steady made by this adhesive process. The fracture behavior of adhesive unit for vehicle in many parts is uncertain to know, especially in vehicle collision. So we design the mechanical experiments under different loading degrees by using Ar.can fixture to achieve complex loading experiment for aluminum alloy adhesive joints, it simplifies adhesive joint for auto-industry under vehicle collision model; the relation of static compression stress index α p and shear stress under different degrees loading is set up by mechanical analyses glue using Drucker-Prager failure model, also fracture model, which is related to stress condition and glue property, is found for joints by analyses the butt joint fracture strength under different degrees loading experiment, it achieves the butt joint failure model under vehicle collision. There is a failure calculating model of adhesion joint, which has been set up by mechanical analyses localized structure of adhesion joint (glue) and Drucker-Prager failure model, it can adequately illustrate the failure course in the finial element simulation model; we use the σ m/ σ o and stress lode parameter to characterization the failure process under different degrees loading in finite element simulation model, prove that adhesive joint failure form rely on the stress condition and property of glue, it also determines on endure-loading-ability of joint, the results of experiment test and verify the finial element simulation model of butt joint.
