High pressure provides scientists with a powerful method of tuning in a controllable and reversible manner the volume of a sample and the consequent properties of that sample. The application of high pressure can produce structural, electronic and other phase transition, polymerization of organic substances, and many other phenomena. Most of our chemical knowledge has been gained from studies carried out at or near one atmosphere pressure at the Earth's surface, while much of the matter in the Universe exists under much higher pressure conditions, deep inside planets and stars, so it's important to learn the properties of elements and compounds under extremely high pressure conditions. In the State Key Laboratory of Inorganic Synthesis and Preparative Chemistry at JiLin university, large-volume high-temperature and high-pressure experiments are routinely made in a 1000 ton Walker model multi-anvil apparatus and a Cubic model multi-anvil apparatus. Experiments are made typically at conditions of pressure and temperature in the range 4-25Gpa and RT(room temperature)-3000℃, respectively. The Walker model apparatus is the first large-volume press with which pressures could excess 20GPa in China. The Cubic model instrument fills up the blank in the lower pressure range of Walker model. In this study, we finished the debugging, pressure calibration and sample assembly for the two high-temperature and high-pressure devices.1. The installation and pressure distributed emendation of the Walker and Cubic model HTHP apparatus were completed.2. Over the pressure range of the instruments, a variety of pressure and sample assemblies are used. An accurate characterization of experimental condition requires a calibration of sample pressure for each type of pressure cell. The pressure calibration of the Walker and Cubic model HTHP apparatuses have been finished by measuring the resistance change with phase transition and the melt point of calibration substance.3. The materials and specification of each type of pressure cells and sample assemblies have been confirmed with a serious of experiments...
