The selenium (Se) nanowires with high crystallinity and purity were facilely synthesized in this paper via a green chemical route. The preparation of Se nanowires included the use of ascorbic acid as reducer and SeO2 as precursor of Se nanowires with the assistance ofβ?cyclodextrin, which was employed as catalyst. The synthesis process consisted of two steps. (i) The reduction of SeO2. (ii) The formation of single crystal Se nanowires. The synthesized Se nanowires were further characterized by using X-ray diffraction pattern (XRD), Raman spectrum, Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM), Transmission Electron Microscope (TEM). Finally, the growth mechanism of Se nanowires was discussed. We report on a method to fabricate selenium nanospheres and lead selenide(PbSe) nanoshells in aqueous solution at 100°C under refluxing and vigorous magnetic stiring. The PbSe nanoshells(diameter is 1.0-1.5μm and average shell-thickness is 200nm) were synthesized by using ascorbic acid as the reducing agent under the assistance of Se nanospheres(average diameter is 1μm) template synthesized. The synthesized selenium nanospheres and PbSe nanoshells were further characterized by using X-ray diffraction pattern (XRD), Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM). Finally, the growth mechanism of Se nanospheres and PbSe nanoshells was also discussed.
