Currently pesticide chemical industry is the industry of major pollution, pollution problems have become increasingly prominent. The contradiction of the development of the industry and environmental protection was deeper than before. And the management of pesticides based on environmental control has been globally strengthened in order to deal with the increased worldwide pesticides pollution. However, current China the control of environment pollution caused by pesticides industry was not so effective because we has not yet reached any standards of pollution discharge for pesticides industry. For the sake of controlling the pollution from source, promoting the environmental quality, and elevating the level of green manufacture and international competitiveness, it is urgent for our country to establish scientific and appIicabIe poilution discharge standards of pesticides so as to fulfill the environmental protection responsibilities.Chlorothalonil is one of representatives of organic chlorine pesticides, which considered as a category of wide spectrum and non-absorbable bactericide with highly efficient, low poisonous and residue, it has gradually been a leading use in bactericides family for its yearly-increased application amount pesticides. The present article was concentrated on the study of chlorothalonil.we summarized the environmental conduct, environmental effects and toxicological characters of chlorothalonil, analyzed its explosive pathways and additionally studied the mainly manufacturing procedures and current progress of three waste processing. Based on the references for the relevant standards of both domestic and overseas sources, we started from the perspective of human health and environmental impact, calculated the limiting value for its discharge according to adopting induction method and Mutimedia Environmental Goals, followed by intensive comparison and analysis, and finally reached the suitable chlorothalonil discharge limitation which ranges from 0.1to 0.5 mg/L. And the threshold of chlorothalonil discharge limitation is available in technical consideration. At meanwhile the recommended discharge concentration for chlorothalonil is discussed based on dilution ratio, capacity of sewage disposal system, and chlorothalonil discharge limitation..Finally we proposed that 0.5 mg/ L as a source of discharge limits, 0.1mg/L as a source of new discharge limits; and the recommended Workshop discharge concentration for chlorothalonil is 5 mg/L。Furthermore, we pointed out that the control for total chlorothalonil production should be combined with the actual production of waste of the different related enterprises.
