In this paper we optimized the method of ionic ferrofluids preparation, analyzed the stability, studied the characteristic of ionic ferrofluids use XRD and TEM, also, we studied the particles size distribution, basic physical property include density and magnetization, and the light transmitted ratio through ionic ferrofluids film under stable magnetic field and magnetic field which increase by degree.On the basis of original preparation method of ionic ferrofluids, we presented that use gravity sedimentation and high speed centrifugalism to discard the pre-aggregation and big particles from original ferroluids, and improved the stability of ionic ferrofluids. In order to accurately confirm the volume fraction, we proposed evaporation method.We analyzed the component, crystal and shape of nano-particles use XRD and TEM respectively, and obtain that the particle are nearly global. The particle size distribution of several kinds of ionic ferrofluids has been studied, calculated the average paticles' diameter is 12.07nm, the result proved that use gravity sedimentation and high speed centrifugalism to discard the pre-aggregation and big particles from original ferroluids, improve the particle size distribution are practical.The density of ionic ferrofluids has been measured, obtained the relationship between volume fraction and density, verified the feasibility of evaporation method; We measured the magnetic property of ionic ferrofluids, obtained the saturated magnetization, initial susceptibility and magnetic diameter, and presented a model of ferrofluids' magnetization.We measured the transmitted ratio of light through ferrofluids film under stable and increase by degree magnetic field, related the transmitted ration with the movement of particle chain in ferrofluid, analyzed the influence of volume fraction, initialize magnetic field, variety ratio of magnetic field on response and light-off time, and researched the feasibility of ferrofluids to be a light-switch.
