The research on ionic liquids is one of the most interesting fields of chemistry. Many novel ionic liquids have been synthesized and a great number of data about their properties have been reported. These data are very important for both theoretical study and industrial applications. The structure of substance determines its properties. The study of the relationship between structure and properties of ionic liquids may provide an important basis for designing new ionic liquids.In this paper, the following work has been done:1. The data on properties of ionic liquids have been collected from 100 literatures in the period from 2004 to 2006. More than 350 kinds of novel cations, 99 kinds of novel anions, about 930 kinds of novel ionic liquids, 20 kinds of binary systems and nearly 2300 pieces of data have been collected. The properties conclude melting point, glass transition temperature, decomposition temperature, density, viscosity, conductivity, electrochemical window, optical activity, and data of phase equilibrium. The interface of query has been improved. The properties of ionic liquids composed of the same cations or anions can be shown in one window.2. The qualitative analysis of the properties such as melting point, glass transition temperature, decomposition temperature, density, viscosity, conductivity has been made. The effects of cations and anions on properties of ionic liquids were also been studied.3. The viscosities of [R1R2R3R4][NTf2] and [NR1R2R3,mom][NTf2] were analyzed using CODESSA, three parameters and four parameters models were obtained with coefficient (R2) as 0.8313 and 0.9597 respectively.
