Layered manganese oxide(Bir(Na)) is synthesized by hydrothermal method. Layered manganese oxide with H+ in the interlayer(Bir(H)) is obtained by ion-exchange progress between Bir(Na) and H+. After soaking in tetramethylammonium(TMA) solution, Bir(H) is delaminated into nanosheet slurry. By a delamination/assembly progress, the nanosheet slurry is reassembled with n-dodecyl trimethylammonium chloride, n-tetradecyltrimethyl-ammonium chloride, n-hexadecyl trimethylammonium chloride, n-octadecyl trimethylammonium chloride, n-dioctadecyl dimethylammonium chloride, benzyl dodecyldimethylammonium chloride and benzyl octadecyldimethyl-ammonium chloride, respectively. The obtained products are supramolecular intercalated structure and investigated by X-ray diffraction(XRD) analysis, Fourier transform infrared(FT-IR) analysis, Thermogravimetry-Differential thermal(TG-DTA) analysis, Transmission electron microscopy(TEM) analysis and Field emission scanning electron microscopy(FESEM) analysis. The alkylammonium-MnO2/polyolefin nanocomposites are obtained by melt-compounding progress. The dioctadecyl dimethylammonium-MnO2/ polyethylene nanocomposite has excellent UV-blocking property and improved thermal stability. The n-octadecyl trimethylammonium-MnO2/ polyethylene and Bir(H)/polyethylene nanocomposites are also studied as a contrast to dioctadecyl dimethylammonium-MnO2/polyethylene. Manganese oxide with supramolecular intercalated structure is delaminated into nanosheet during the melt-compounding progress, and the nanosheet show the UV-blocking property that is different from the bulk material because of Nano effect.
