The photocatalytic catalysts of Rose bengal-AlCl3-Pt/TiO2 and Rosebengal-Pt/TiO2 were prepared by impregnation method. The photocatalyticactivities of the catalysts were investigated by the photocatalytic hydrogengeneration from water under visible light and the possible mechanism werediscussed. The result indicates that TiO2 sensitized by dye Rose bengal showssome photocatalytic activity under visible light irradiation, and by modification ofAlCl3, The photocatalytic activity of TiO2 was highly improved.The reason is thatTiO2 modified by AlCl3 can enhance the adsorption amount and intensity of dyeRose Bengal, so the photocatalytic activity of TiO2 is improved. The impregnationconcentration of AlCl3 and dye rose bengal and amount of loading Pt have someinfluence on the photocatalyst Rose bengal-AlCl3-Pt/TiO2 hydrogen evolutionunder visible light, the optimal concentration were 1.0×10-3mol/L, 2.5×10-3mol/Land 5wt%, respectively.The photocatalyst Cu-TiO2 was prepared by the method of light deoxidize.By dye-sensitization with rose bengal as sensitizer, we prepare the photocatalystRose Bengal-Cu/TiO2 which has photoactivity under visible light.Thephotocatalytic activities of the catalysts were investigated by the photocatalytichydrogen generation from water under visible light, and The photocatalyst werecharacterized by means of X-ray diffraction, FT-IR and UV-Vis absorption spectra.The result indicate that loading Cu enhance TiO2 adsorption to visible light.Amount of loading Cu has some influence on the photocatalytic activity ofphotocatalyst, the optimal amount of Cu loading were 5wt%. The adsorptionamount and intensity of Cu-TiO2 photocatalyst to dye rose bengal were enhancedcompare with the pure TiO2, so the adsorption to visible light and photocatalyticactivity of Cu-TiO2 were improved,but its photocatalytic activity was lower thanPt-TiO2 photocatalyst and need to be improved.
