Triethoxysilane,composed of a silicon atom to which three alkoxy groups and ahydrogen atom are bonded, are very reactive and unstable. They therefore undergonumerous reactions, such as addition, copolymerization, copolycondensation anddisproportionation reaction with other organic compounds, and a number of veryuseful substance being obtained. These in turn are used as starting materials for silanecouping reagent,coating materials or for obtaining monosilanes in high purity forsemiconductor applications.In industry, triethoxysilane are prepared by tricholorosilane and alcohol,however, hydrochloric acid which corrode reactor, pollute environment, this papersets forth a new process in which triethoxysilane was directly synthesized by theuse of silicon and alcohol starting materials,and copper as catalyst, which is simple,handle easily, have no environment pollution.The nanosized Cu2O was prepared which is characterized by the technique ofXRD, and used as the direct synthesis of triethoxysilane via si-gaseous ethanolreaction in solvent, Experimental results showed that reaction temperature,theamount of catalyst, the si particle diameter,the ethanol volume,pretreatmenttemperature of catalyst, enviroment and the solvent could highly affect the reaction.The different making method of the nanosized CuO on the direct of triethoxysilanewas studied. We found the activity of of the nanosize CuO prepared under theradiation of microwave was relatively high. We also found the activities of theSi-CuO mixture pretreated by microwave is relatively high. The operation is simpleand the making time is short. The affection of compound catalyst on reaction wasstudied, the relatively better proportion of them was found.The application of triethoxysilane on the reaction of hydrosilylation isinvestigated. Experimental results showed that different catalysts, the amount ofcatalyst, reaction temperature,the method of catalyst activity, the different makingmethod of triethoxysilane could highly affect the reaction. The relatively betterreaction condition was found.
