Firstly, effects of the structure, dose, charge density (CD) and molecular weight (MW) of the flocculants on the retention of inorganic materials were investigated to provide theory and technical aids to prepare titanium dioxide (TiO2) composite sheets with photoeatalytic property this paper. Secondarily the composite sheets with photocatalytic property to methyl orange (MO) under UV or solar light were prepared by a papermaking technique in our laboratory. The sheets were found to be recovered easily from the aqueous solution and to be able to be used repeatedly. The effects of m (plant fiber)/m (ceramic fiber ) ratio in titanium dioxide (TiO2) sheets and basis weights on the retention rate and photocatalytie property of the sheets were investigated, and the photocatalytic efficiency of the sheets to flowing MO solution was also investigated. Finally, the composite sheets with different mass ratios of TiO2 and ZnO mixed mechanically were prepared by the same papermaking technique. The effects of the mass ratios on the adsorptive and photoeatalytie properties of the sheets were studied. The results showed that the photoeatalytie efficiency of ZnO sheets to different AZO dyes were larger than that of the TiO2 sheets, and that the efficiency of ZnO sheets to flowing AZO dye solution was double larger that of the TiO2 sheets.
