The thesis consists of two parts:The first part is to summarize the development of synthesizing of benzo[b]furans and indoles. This part is categorized into two sections to summarize the literatures. The first section focuses on the studies of the development in synthesizing benzo[b]furans and their synthetic methods. Major synthetic strategies utilized include the traditional methods, palladium-based catalyzed, copper-based catalyzed and other noble metals catalyzed. The second section focuses on the synthesis and functionalization of indoles through palladium-catalyzed reactions. The approaches to the palladium-catalyzed synthesis of indole derivatives which have been categorized into two main types: through cyclization reactions and the functionalization of preformed indole rings. The cyclization reactions are further subclassified by the cyclization of nitrogen nucleophiles and alkynes and by the cyclization of nitrogen nucleophiles and alkenes. As to the functionalization of the preformed indole system, two main trends can be recognized: (a) functionalization via the intermediacy of indolylpalladium complexes and (b) functionalization via organometallic derivatives of indoles.The second part is the synthesis of novel ferrocenylbenzo[b]furans and ferrocenylindoles via the Sonogashira-Heck-Cassar reaction. We used Pd(PPh3)2Cl2 and Cul as catalyst, i-Pr2NH as additive, KOBu1 as base, toluene as solvent to synthesize 2-ferrocenylbenzo[b]furans and 2-ferrocenylindoles from o-iodophenols or N-(2-iodophenyl)-4-methylbenzenesulfonamides and 2-methyl-4-ferrocenyl-3-butyn -2-ol. This method not only the substrates prepared easily and tolerance of a wide range of functionalities but also providing a novel approach to synthesize ferrocenylbenzo[b]furans and ferrocenylindoles.All those mentioned compounds have been determined by 1HNMR, 13CNMR, FAB. IR and have been tested bv EA. too.
