Nowadays foul removing/preventing on-line of shell and tube exchanger isthe research focuses in home and abroad, The achievements of inserts on heattransfer enhancement and anti-fouling on-line are summarized in this paper.The working principle, the structure parameter and the data processing methodof polyacrylic twisted-tape are also introduced.Rotating characteristics, resistance characteristics and heat transferperformance are summarized through data processing of cold and hot stateexperiment. The pressure decreasing, friction resistance coefficient, totalheat transfer coefficient and coefficient of heat convection are analyzed indetail. Considering the geometry parameters, friction resistance coefficientand total heat transfer coefficient relation are generalized through nonlinearregression, and so is the coefficient of heat convection relation combined withWilson solution. These are beneficial for selecting sample.The self-rotating twisted-tape has good rotating characteristics; the speedis the linear relation with fluid speed. The pressure drop is a little,approximately for blank two times, can meet the production needs. With theinserts, the total heat transfer coefficient increases 25~52%, higher in lowReynolds number. As a new insert, it is good in heat transfer performance andfoul removing/preventing, especially suit for old equipment transformation.
