This article has conducted thorough research on the heavy metals pollution of the soil in the Molybdenum ore areas, the ore collection area and the transportation zone for mining as well as the debris in Huludao city of Liaoning province. 80 soil samples in the mine lot and 60 farmland samples were sampled. The contents of Pb, Hg, Cd, Cr, Zn, Cu, Mo, Ni,As of the samples were measured by ICP-OES. The present situation of heavy metal pollution in the soil was assessed according to the method of pollution index and Nemero index. At the same time, the contents of heavy metals in the farmland around the lot were analyzed. The results indicted that the soil pollution in this mining area was metallic compound pollution. The main parts of the heavy metals were Hg, Cd, Zn, As, of which the contents of As, Cd were respectively 154.13mg/kg and 74.59mg/kg. The contents of heavy metals in different zones have distinct differences. The pollution intense of the ore collection area which Nemero index was 59.33 was more serious, compare with the ore areas and the transportation zone for mining. The pollution intense of the farmland around the debris which Nemerow index was 8.46was more serious, compare with the farmland around the ore collection area and the farmland around the tailings areas. The heavy metals of the farmland were present in remnant forms, the ratio of the acid extraction was minimum. And the ratios of different forms were not obvious among different metal elements and different soils. But the ratio of the mercuric acid extraction was great which influence the crops to grow.
