This study focuses on Non-point Source Pollution Load (NPSPL) in the urban residential area; it reviewed the domestic and international researches on the calculation of Non-point Source pollution load, makes comparison between the most widely used Non-point Source Pollution Load calculation models and analyses the deep simulating mechanism of SWMM model. Generalizability of the researched area is made on the basis of on-the-spot exploration of the researched area, the Palm-spring Community (PSC), and investigation of the NPSPL accumulation character, and consideration of its terrain, drainage division and catchment character. According to rainfall-runoff observation data and empirical coefficient of the researched area, a NPSPL calculation model is built, basing on the SWMM mode, and then it is applied to the quantitative research of NPSPL in the Palm Spring Community.This study applies SWMM to the NPSPL research of the Palm Spring Community; the main researches are as follows:â‘ Analysis and research of the application of the urban Storm Water Model (SWMM) to the calculation of NPSPL. Research and analyse the run-off simulation coefficient and the mechanism & model coefficient of the pollutant accumulation & run-off erosion simulating system and channel transportation simulating system, discuss the feasibility of the application of SWMM to regional NPSPL simulation.â‘¡Build Calculation Model for the Palm Spring Community (CMPSC) on the basis of SWMM. According observation data of the researched area and referring to simulating coefficient of domestic and international model and generalizability of the researched area, build a calculation model for the area.â‘¢Applying CMPSC to the NPSPL calculation in different designed conditions. The study simulated the producing procedure of Non-point source pollutant in varied rain fall intensity and varied rainfall type in a single rainfall, calculated the NPSPL and its change in a single rainfall. The simulation result and the observation result of a typical rainfall prove the simulation result from the model is reasonable, and the model can well simulate the load of NPSPL in the researched community.
