This paper studies on the way of outdoor investigation on plants, indoor experiment and planting experiment on the JinFu expressway. The paper analyzes the plant community's species composition, structure character Species diversity, succession and the ability of improving the soil. Furthermore, the selection of fitting protection plants on slope also has been done druing artificial promotion restoration. The main results are as follows.1. Sixty kinds of plants belonging to eighteen families of different restoration age limit and original vegetation have been found in the investigation areas. And it also reveals that the species composition, structure character, species diversity and the succession of every plant communities are quite different with each other. Furthermore, with the increasing of restoration age limit, the plant community's species composition has been becoming more and more abundant; the Richness index, Shannon-weiner index and Simpson index of plant community have been obviously increasing; the structure of plant community is developing towards stratification.2. The characteristics of improving the soil of plants are as follows. With the increasing of restoration age limits of plant community, the bulk density of soil has been decreasing, while the soil total porosity and the moistures content has been increasing. In the plant community of different restoration age limits, the change of content of soil nutrient is obviously different. The content of soil organic substance, total N, P, K, available N, P, K of plant community has been differ degree increasing, and the pH of soil is changing from alkalescency to acidity.3. The effects of popular plantation belts in early period of ecological restoration of vegetation are as follows. The effect of polar plantation belts on the increasing of species diversity of grass lay is not obvious. And the pH of soil changs little. The characteristics of improving the soil of popular plantation belts is conspicuity: the soil total porosity and the moistures content has been increasing. And the content of available N, P, K of has been also increased.4. The results of the Multiple-score of growth adaptability of different protection plants on expressway slope is Lucerne>Bromus inermis>Medicago falcata L.>Amorpha fruiticosa Linn.>Lespedeza bicolors Turca.>Festuca rubra L.>Poa compressa L.>Lolium perenne L.>Poa pratensis Linn. And it also reveals that the points of the growth adaptability of leguminous plants is higher than that of the Gramineae. These four kinds of leguminous plants can be used as the pioneer ones on artificial Vegetation Restoration. But Lespedeza bicolors Turca. and Amorpha fruiticosa Linn. are not adapted to be planted solely, for both of them are weak on becoming the whole lawn. Bromus inermis is the best in Gramineae plants which can be used as solely seeded, while other can't be.5. The composite test on preserving plants shows, disposal B(Bromus inermis 50% +Poa pratensis Linn. 50%)and D(Bromus inermis 50%+Lolium perenne L. 30%+Poa pratensis Linn. 20%) are suitable for mixed seeding, for both of which are suitable for fixing the topsoil.
