As the development of papermaking industry, it demands to empolder new paper chemicals which adapt to secondary fiber or under neutral and alkaline papermaking conditions.To this aim,the thesis first synthesize diallyldimethylammonium chloride (DADMAC) and acrylamide (AM) copolymer, take UV spectrophotometry and colloid titration to determine the both monomer conversion rate, The effect of several factors including the total monomer mass fraction, monomer feeding way and initiator amount on the monomer conversion as well as the intrinsic viscosity and cationic degree were investigated in details, improve the reaction condition; The weight average molecular weight, rms radius, second virial coefficient of DADMAC-AM copolymer in aqueous salt solution were studied by laser light scattering method(LS), the molecular weight and its distribution as well as the chain conformation were also researched by LS- GPC technology, the equation of Mark-Houwink for the copolymer is established by viscosimetry and LS; The effect of reaction conditions on Hofmann reaction of the copolymer were investigated, the molecular weight and its distribution in the Hofmann reaction were also studied by LS-GPC; Finally, the thesis discussed about the relation between the structure and performance of the Hofmann products, provided theoretical and applied foundation for the empolder of new paper chemicals.
