Austempering Ductile Iron is a new wearable and hard-machining bulb steel material. According to the manufacture situation of ADI presently, a proper range of the austempering temperature and time is selected to prepare for a series of samples, then the mechanical performance is tested to analyze and compare the metal organization in this paper. The wear and failure mechanism of the PCBN and Ceramic cutter is researched when cutting ADI materials with different performance by high-speed dry cutting, and the relations among work material,tool material,cutting quality and the surface roughness are discussed; The theory model between the surface roughness and cutting parameters in the process of high-speed cutting based on particle swarm algorithm is established to analysis its impact law and optimizes cutting parameters to provide theory guide for the best production technology. The test shows that ADI can get different high mechanical performance by changing heat processing parameters such as austempering temperature ; the traditional manufacture process of cutting, quench hardening and grinding can be changed by using high-speed cutting process with the PCBN and Ceramic cutter, which effectively increase the fatigue strength and productivity of work pieces and reduce energy consumption. With the help of the particle swarm algorithm to establish the theory model between the surface roughness and cutting parameters,the surface roughness can be effectively predicated. It shows the significant reference value and positive affection to optimize the processing parameters of the austempering temperature in the process of ADI prepared, discuss the low cost processing using turning for grinding and push the applications and development of the PCBN and Ceramic cutter forward.
