In alkaline solution(pH=12.5), the nano-particles of ZnO can enhance luminol's electrochemiluminescence(ECL) either suspended in solution or modified on electrode surface by silica sol-gel film. The ECL intensity responded upon the concentration of luminol in the range from 1.0×10-8 to 1.0×10-5mol/L on modified electrode with higher sensitivity and stability. Also, an electrochemiluminescent electrode(ECL-electrode) was constructed based on the hybrid modification of luminol and nano-ZnO. It could burst up the steady ECL in blank solution with higher signal/niose ratio and positive response to the concentration of sodium dodecyl benzene sulfonate(DBS) with good linearity.After synthesis of MnO2 nano-particles, this paper researched its sensitization for ECL of luminol in alkaline medium or modified on platinum electrode by sol-gel method. The results revealed that the sensitization were obvious whatever the nano-MnO2 were in solution or on surface of electrode. Furthermore, the research was carried out to develop an ECL electrode by modifying the nano-MnO2 and luminol simultaneously by sol-gel film and gained favorable properties.The sensitization of luminol's ECL from nano-TiO2 whether it was added into solution or modified on the surface of electrode. The mechanism of enhancement has been discussed and it was explained that the effect was resulted from the adsorption of luminol on the surface of nano-particles of TiO2. Furthermore, the research was carried out to develop two ECL electrodes by modifying the nano-TiO2 and luminol simultaneously by sol-gel film on either threadlike platinum electrode or sheet platinum electrode. And it showed that the properties of the ECL sheet platinum electrode were much more excellent than any other ECL electrode.
