Because of the extremely low polarity of the perfluori nated stationary phases could result in a higher overall selectivity for separation of peptides and proteins, the fluorocarbon resins as a column packing material for high-performance liquid chromatog raphy (HPLC) has been used to baseline separate several peptides. However, preparation of fluorocarbon polymer monolithic columns for capillary electrochromatography (CEC) by in-situ copolyme rization hasn't been reported. In this thesis, we introduced two new types of fluoropolymer monolithic columns. One of monolithic capillary columns was prepared for capillary electrochromatography (CEC) by in-situ copolymerization of trifluorostyrene (TFS),methylacrylic acid(MAA) and divinylbenzene in the presence of porogen solvent containing 1-propanol, 1-heptane and water. The influence of the contents of the porogen solvent and divinylbenzene in the polymerization mixture on the morphology and pore size were investigated. After optimizing of the concentration of the buffer, organic solvent in the buffer and injected time of the samples, four kinds of neutral molecules were baseline separated respectively on this column. The other of monolithic capillary columns was prepared for CEC by in-situ copolymerization of butyl methacrylate (BMA),2-(N-ethylperfluorooctanesulfonamido) ethyl methacrylate(QG-F814),dimethacrylate (EDMA) and 2-(dimethy lamino) ethyl methacrylate(DAMA) in the presence of porogen solvent containing 1-propanol, and 1,4-butanediol. The influence of the contents of the 1-propanol in the polymerization mixture on the morphology and pore size also were investigated. After optimizing of several conditions as above, three kinds of neutral molecules were baseline separated respectively on the column. It was also predicted that these fluoropolymers columns potentially be used for separating biomolecules such as amino-acids, poly -peptides and proteins.
