The content of resin and asphaltene in heavy crude oil is very high, which make it has high density and viscosity. This paper studied on heavy crude oil as oil-in-water emulsions and emulsion breaking (the oil sample was from Caoqiao) and solved the problem about transportation of heavy crude oil in pipelines and well-bores. And the matched emulsifier and demulsify were also combinated, which solved the contradictory problem about heavy crude oil as oil-in-water emulsions and emulsion breaking. At last the paper furthered to study the effects of parameters on this subject.Under the ratio of oil and water is 7:3, through optimizing the emulsifier the viscosity break for reverse emulsion which was formed by alkyl-phenol poly-oxyethylene can reach 100%. The rheological property of emulsion was heavily affected by the emulsification condition. The photomicrograph showed that the more minor the diameters of the liquid droplets and the more homogeneous of the liquid droplet were, the more obvious the non-Newtonian property of the emulsion was.The stability of emulsion is one of the critical steps in the process including static stability and dynamic stability. The results showed that the concentration of emulsifier, mixing intensity, the salinity in water phase and the emulsifying temperature had great effects on the stability of emulsion, meanwhile, that combinating alkyl-phenol poly-oxyethylene with alkali could improve both the static stability and dynamic stability of the emulsion. The emulsion breaking is the critical step in the process. And this paper combinated a kind of demulsify with high efficiency, optimized demulsifying condition and reduced the cost for the viscosity break through emulsification and demulsification.
