The amorphous alloy is a kind of new material with short-range ordering whilelong-range disordering structure. Its unique structural character results in the excellentcatalytic properties, such as the high catalytic activity and selectivity, high catalytic efficiency. Therefore, the amorphous alloys have been more and more concerned. In this thesis, the NiMoAl amorphous alloy was prepared by incorporation of rapidquenching technique. The surfaces structures and components of catalysts were characterizedusing SEM, XRD techniques. Glucose and 3-hydroxypropionaldehyde were selectivelyhydrogenated over the catalyst. But hydrogenations of glucose and 3-hydroxypropionaldehy-de with the amorphous NiMoA1 have been not reported up to now.Glucose was hydrogenated to Sorbitol over the amorphous NiMoAl catalyst in liquidphase. The effects of various reaction parameters like reaction temperature, pressure, amountof catalyst, concentration of substrate, reaction time were investigated and all of them wereoptimized to serve for industrial application. The activities of five different kinds of Momodified skeletal catalysts were compared. The results showed that glucose in equivalentamount of water can be completely converted with more than 99% selectivity to sorbitol at135℃and 4.0 MPa over the amorphous NiMoAl catalyst which to glucose ratio of 2.4%.The catalyst can be repeatedly used for five times, indicating excellent stability. The amorphous NiMoAl catalyst was used in liquid phase selective hydrogenation of3-hydroxypropionaldehyde to 1,3-propanediol. Effects of reaction temperature, pressure, theamount of catalyst, concentration of substrate, and reaction time were investigated and all ofthem were optimized to serve for industrial application. The activities of five different kindsof Mo modified skeletal catalysts were compared. The results showed that the conversion rateof HPA and the selectivity of PDO could be over 85% and 99% respectively at the first stageof hydrogenation under the reaction conditions of 45℃, 5.0 MPa, HPA concentration 10%,m(cat.)/m(HPA)=3.3:100, with 30 min; and at the second stage at the conditons 100℃, 5.0MPa, the substrate can be completely converted and the selectivity of PDO reached to 99%.
