In this paper, a novel phosphate ligand containing PEG chains (TMPGPA: tri-(methoxylpolyethylene glycol)-phosphate) was synthesized and used for the Rh-catalyzedhydroformylation of olefins in the thermoregulated PEG biphase system. The catalyticactivity and recycling efficiency was investigated in detail. The thermoregulated PEG biphasesystem with the property of "homogeneous reaction at high temperature, heterogeneousseparation at low temperature" enables the catalyst phase separated from the product phase bysimple decantation.Rh/TMPGPA complex was used to catalyze the hydroformylation of 1-dodecene, cyclohexene and diisobutylene, respectively. The effects of reaction condition on the catalyticactivity and leaching of Rh were studied systematically. Rh/TMPGPA complex shows a highcatalytic activity. Under the optimized conditions, the conversion of 1-dodecene and the yieldof aldehyde reach up to 100% and 99%, respectively. The catalyst can be recylcled 7 timeswithout evident loss of catalytic activity. The average leaching of Rh in the product phase is8.1%(wt %) for the first three cycles. The conversion of cyclohexene and the yield ofaldehyde are both 99%. After 9 times recycling of the catalyst, there is no obvious loss inactivity. The average leaching of Rh for the first three times is 3.3 %(wt%). When take thediisobutylene as substrate, under the optimized reaction conditions, the catalyst can be reusedfor 7 times. However, the conversion of diisobutylene and the yield of aldehyde graduallydecrease. The average leaching of Rh is 12.9 %(wt %) for the first three cycles.
