Study On Composition And Technology Of Carbon-based Composite Slider

Abstract/Summary:
Electric locomotive gets electric power from power-supply network through power collector sliders, quality of which influences whether locomotive could work well. On the basis of the analysis of running conditions and friction mechanism between power collector sliders and contact wires, and referring to German typical slider, composition proportion and preparation technology of carbon-based composite slider samples were investigated. With the test of bulk density, shore hardness, resistivity and compressive strength of prepared slider samples, the effect of grain size composition of petroleum coke, the content of coal pitch, the moulding technology and calciantion technology on properties of samples was researched. The micrograph and composition of German sliders and prepared slider samples were analyzed by XRD, SEM and EDS.Experimental results show: when the proportion of big size grain, middling size grain and small size grain of petroleum coke is 2:2:11, and the content of coal pitch is 25%, slider samples with better properties could be obtained. As the increase of proportion of big grain coke, mechanical properties of samples increase and resistivity falls, but superabundant big grain coke will increase flaws of samples and reduce their properties. When the content of coal pitch is below 25%, with it increasing, resistivity falls, and shore hardness and compressive strength increase. With the content of coal pitch 25%, samples with preferable properties can be obtained, and when the content of coal pitch is above 25%, resitivity increases and mechanical properties fall as the content increases. Samples with better properties can be got with cold-moulding at the pressure of 25 ton after calciantion at 1000℃. Pressure of moulding is important to properties of samples, which increase with moulding pressure increasing. Properties of samples can be increased effectively as the methods of heat-moulding technology and appropriate rise of calciantion temperature are used.Resistivity, shore hardness and micrograph of slider samples with heat-moulding after calciantion at 1000℃are similar to ones of German sliders. However, there are still big difference in the compressive strength and bulk density compared to German sliders. In order to get more satisfied properties of samples and finally produce carbon-based composite slider equivalent to German slider, composition proportion and preparation technology should be studied further, and steeping technology also should be adopted.
