The surface plays a very important role in the properties and applications of nanoparticles.And recently,surface modification has been a focus in nanotechonology.In our work,polymer and organic compounds were modified on the semiconductor nanoparticles or gold nanoparticles,and then we studied the effects of the surface modifications as well as their applications.Concretely,the thesis consists of six chapters summarized in the following:In chapter 1,we gave a review on the properties,preparations and some applications of semiconductor nanoparticles and gold nanoparticles. And then,we introduced the conception,significance and usual techniques of surface modifications on nanoparticles.Finally, conceivation of our research was presented.In chapter 2,we modified a kind of polymer synthesized by us onto CdS QDs.And we studied the effects of surface modification on the QDs' stability and luminescence which were improved much.In addition, the QDs after surface modification can be dissolved well in some organic solvents.In chapter 3,we designed and prepared QDs with pH sensitive behavior by surface modification with chitosan onto CdTe QDs.Studies showed that the quenching behavior of fluorescence for surface modified CdTe QDs in the presence of Cu2+was strongly dependent to pH values.In chapter 4,we modified a series of mercapto-compounds onto the oil acid capped CdS QDs to obtain strong violet emission.And we studied the temporal evolution of the luminescence to elucidate the formation mechanism of the strong violet emission.In chapter 5,we designed and synthesized a mercapto-compound which was modified onto the gold nanoparticles to prepare a sensor to metal ions.And we preliminarily studied its sensor behavior to metal ions at different pH values.In chapter 6,traits and innovations of the thesis were summarized. Also,an outlook pertinent to our research was given.
