In recent years, the ordered mesoporous materials with uniform porearrangement, and narrow pore size distribution, large adjustable pore size withinthe variable scope, and high specific surface area have been widely used ascatalysts, catalyst supports, electrical and optical devices, and shape/sizeselective adsorbents for environmentally hazardous chemicals, since the firstdiscovery of M41S family in 1992. The mesoporous materials have been the focusof the research in the condensed matter physics, chemistry and materials fields.And it has been the hot interdisciplinary research hotrspot rapidly.The fabrication and the application of mesoporous silicon would be studiedin this thesis. First of all, the mesoporous silicon would be prepared andcharacterized; at the same time, its adsorption character would be studied,especially on the adsorption of the main pollutants such as heavy metal chromiumion. So as to it can be applied in the end environment treatment, and give itscontribution to the sustainable development.The fabrication of the mesoporous materials in this thesis takes the typicalsynthesized method of SBA-15. The analyses results of the as-synthesize samplescharacterized by small angle XRD, BET and TEM indicate that the as-synthesizedsample have the characteristic structure of SBA-15.For the uniform pore arrangement, narrow pore size distribution and highspecific surface area, the adsorption performances of the heavy meatalchromiumanion, methylene blue, formaldehyde and phenol were studied with these as-syn-thesized mesoporous materials (mesoporous silicon and mesoporous carbon). Andits results as follow:The adsorption capability of mesoporous carbon for the heavy metal element,viz., chromium anion was preferable, such as the faster adsorption rate and thehigher adsorptive capacity, lts adsorption capability was better than the activecarbon obviously. The adsorption capability of mesoporous silicon for themethylene blue was also preferable, Its result better than active carbon, but its did not as good as the msoporous carbon.The adsorption capability of mesoporous carbon for the formaldehyde solutionwas not very well, but the adsorption test of mesoporous carbon for formaldehydein gas phase was very well and worth researching. The adsorption rate ofmesoporous carbon for phenol was slow and unstable, and it needed futherresearch.
