This paper introduces the development of several common separators and their advantages and disadvantages, summaries gas-solid two-phase flow theory and the fundamental of gas-solid separation, analyzes the research progress of separator numerical simulation, makes the content, purpose, meaning and method clear and establishes the theoretical basis for this research. The major research works are as follows:1. This paper simply introduces the grid dividing software GAMBIT and fluid simulation software FLUENT. On the base of software research, combing the new separation components it carries out the two-dimensional flow field simulation. First, research the single-phase gas flow field, prove that there are gas flow acceleration between separation components, gas speed reduction in components and pressure increment in components because of gas flow bounce theoretically. Then ground on the single-phase gas flow field, induct granule. Through simulating, get the moving track of the solid granules in separator, and find the catching probability of granules in different particle sizes. Meanwhile, because the separation efficiency is affected by gas flow acceleration between the separation components and gas speed reduction in components, the major factors which may affect the performance are found just as the amount of the rows and transverse and lengthways spacing of the separation components. It not only provides the theoretical principle for further cold mold experiment research, but also puts forward the conditions that need to study for the experimental research.2. On the base of numerical simulation, a series of improvements and optimization experiments are finished for the new type inertial separator by cold mold experiments verification. From the experiments in this paper, such conclusions are arrived: When take sand for raw material, the transverse and lengthways spacing is single as the caliber, the amount of the rows is 4 and the separation speed is 4.12m/s, the separation efficiency can reach 99.6%. And it is better for macro-granules than micro ones for this separator. This type separator is also fit for gas and solid mixture of high concentration. The pressure of the separator is mainly affected by gas speed, but the space betweenthe components and the granule density affect little.3. On the base of the synergistic reaction of centrifugation and inertia,a new type horizontal gas solid separator is designed, and a cold mold experiment platform is built according to the measure. Through adding dust experiment, we compare the impactions on separation efficiency and pressure for different structures inner of the separator. The results show: the more reasonable conditions are laying-off opening set on exhausting end, gap area 36cm~2, vent-pipe insert depth 15cm and length of circling pillar 4.5cm, And then the separation efficiency of it is high.
