Along with the development of economy and the growth of the population, the water resource will be badly in short, and it has already been an important and hard nut to crack for the mankind in the 21st century.The mine wastewater that is recycled to utilize is only about 20%. The great quantities of the untreated mine wastewater is directly exhausted, and it not only wasted a great deal of mine underground water resources, but also still seriously pollutes environment. And the great number coal mine at the dry and the half dry loess region. The water is in short and seriously short in about 2/3 of the coal mine region.and people at the area is difficult to live and produce for the water question. It restricts the coal produce and the economy of mine area to along keep on development in the great degree.At home and abroad, the methods adopted to treat acid mine drainage are mainly building sewage disposition factory, and use physical, chemical and biochemical methods to treat, such as limestone and lime Neutralization Roller Filtration Method based on the theory of chemical neutralization reaction, in which CaCO3 is used as neutralizer. The main disadvantages of using sewage disposition factory are that the basic project and equipment need a large investment, running fee is high, the consumed energy is large, but the disposition amount is small, which the enterprises are hard to afford, especially those dispersal coal mines at villages and towns .It is extremely important to study and develop rapidly an reasonable and practicable technology of treating acid mine drainage.In our country, the loess region is an important energy and chemical engineering base, and there is the loess widely distributing. Particularly, there is the great abundant and cheap loess of various geological periods and and the loess distribute area large miscellaneous causes of formation in the middle and western area in our country, which is of about 0.64 million km2 of the thickness of 50~70 meters. The part of mine area can collapse, gather water and becaome an wetland for mine. As a result, there can become a man-made loess, wetland plant and microorganism ecosystem system, and it can purify acid mine drainage by physical, chemical and biological function. Not only it can lower the treatment expenses, but also it is convenient and fast.We select representative loess widely distributed in Shanxi as the soil sample for example (Q3)Malan loess, (Q2)Lishi loess, and(Q3)Wucheng loess, the water sample discharged from vaunt-mountain mine of Taiyuan Xishan Mineral Bureau as well as Xiaoyi Coal Mine at the Villages and Towns ,Shanxi in order to study on the treatment of acidity and major pollutant in acid mine drainage by every loess. We respectively build up four physical models, Malan loess pillar, Lishi loess pillar,Wucheng loess pillar and two meters layering hige pillars acording to the Cheng Jiaya cross section. After the neatening and analyzing of the experimental results, it verifies that every natural loess can purify the important pollutant on the acid mine drainage, and it is practicable that loess can participate in purifying acid mine drainage.we can draw the conclusions as flows.1. Every loess can purify the acidity of acid mine drainage, improve pH to about 8. and the effect is obvious. It is important that the loess capacity is large.2. Every loess can purify the important pollutant of acid mine drainage, and the treatment of every loess is different. Under the quantify conditionin, for the capacity of purify SO42-. Malan loess is the best and Lishi loess is better and Wucheng loess is the last one .but for Fe and Mn, Wucheng is best and Malan loess is better.3. The environment capacity of every Loess treating acid mine drainge is consistent with the purify capacity. The environment capacity of Malan loess of acid, SO42-, Fe and Mn is separately 2.45×102L/kg, 870.9mg/kg,6.53 mg/kg,1.10mg/kg; Lishi loess is 2.91×102L/kg 254.2mg/kg, 7.50mg/kg, 1.32 mg/kg; and Wucheng loess is 2.72×102L/kg, 60.9 mg/kg, 12.23 mg/kg, 2.03mg/kg. The environment capacity the comprehensive loess of SO42- is 444.3 mg/kg.
