Nanotubes have attracted great considerable attention recently due to their unique physical chemical properties and their potential applications in catalysis, medicine, nanoelctronics and optoelectronic nanodevices. Rare earth complexes have a wide use in luminescence and display fields because of their unique fluorescence characteristics. Incorporated rare earth complexes into polymer, we gained composite luminescent nanofibers by electrospinning. It is meaningful to obtain one kind of having the latent application prospect luminescent material. In this dissertation, the europium complexes with benzoic acid and 1, 10- phenanthroline have been synthesized. The composite nanofibers composing of polyacrylonitrile(PAN) with europium complexes and polymethyl methacrylate(PMMA) with rare earth complexes were prepared via electrospinning. Fluorescence spectra and lifetimes indicate that the composite nanofibres can emit intense characteristic fluorescence of central europium ion, and have high lumenescece efficiency and colorimetric purity. The lifetime of the composite nanofibers are also lengthened. PAN hollow nanofibres have been synthesized successfully by coaxial electrospinning technique. Their structures have been studied by TGA-DTA, SEM, FTIR, et al.
