Dioscorea zingiberensis Wright, whose main effective medicinal ingredient is saponin is a special plant of China. By transforming saponin's steroidal compounds, it can be transformed into steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, sex hormones, glucocorticoids, female contraceptive drugs and so on. However, there are serious environmental problems in the general process of saponin producing. People made a variety of ways to improve the producing process, but things are still worse. To solve this problem, this paper confirms the feasibility, both from theory and experiment, of cracking glycoside bond by laser and extracting saponin further. In theory, the theoretical model of cracking diosgenin saponin bond by laser, including the molecule excitation and dissociation rate equation by infrared multi-photon, molecules excited in separated and quasi-continuous energy level, as well as molecules excited and dissociated in real continuous state, is analyzed in this paper. We use near-infrared laser (from 1941.53nm to 1948.97nm) irradiating the diosgenin formaldehyde solution, and find free diosgenin after TLC operation which means that the glycoside bond is cracked. This makes a preparation for the following work. Such methods to extract diosgenin from Dioscorea zingiberensis Wright without any pollution have never been reported both at home and abroad.
