The abrasion destruction is the main reason that affects the hydraulic machinery service life. For many years,it is always a popular topic to enhance the anti-abrasion ability of hydraulic machinery in hydraulic machinery research. In view of the character of abrasion in hydraulic machinery,shot peening, one of the surface strengthening technics, is investigated in this paper. Through the numerical analysis,it is easy to optimize technic parameter, thus the simulation of shot peening plays the positive instruction role to the surface strengthening technology.Shot peening mainly is used to enhance the mechanical material's fatigue life.It is suitable specially if the material withstands alternating load. This kind of strengthening technology has the positive function to enhance the hydraulic machinery anti-abrasion performance.The abrasion in hydraulic machinery mainly to display in its fatigue destruction aspect. Shot peening enhances the machinery's service life because it improves anti-weary performance of the material surface.However, we want obtain best shot peening strengthening effect, we must choose reasonable shot peening parameters. At present these parameters are obtained through the experiment in the most situation. It is not a perfect method because the experimental cycle is long and the research costs lot. Shot peening strengthening process is simulated through the general finite element software named ANSYS in this paper. We analysis the residual stress in the material surface layer, and find the optimized parameter. It is convenient to revise the model and assume different parameter in ANSYS, This is a effective way to research shot peening.Two kind of metals material: the 45# steel and 4340 steel are studied in this article. Compaired results by different diameters of shot and several different spray speeds ,the influence of maximum compressed stress ,depth of compressed stress layer , depth of indentation, bulge around the shot hole to shot peening strengthening effect is obtained. These factors are obvious in pictures. Compaired the computed result and the existing experimental data, it proves analysis thought feasible and the result credible. In the simulation process, APDL (ansys parameter design language) and its convenient function are introduced and applied in this paper , as well as the LS-DYNA keywords'organization data function, so the time cost on model pretreatment is saved greatly.Strength and rigidity check of a small current pump impeller is made in the last part of the paper .This impeller works in high speed, but its thickness is thin and its diameter is big.Because the space between impeller and its outer shell is very narrow, we must confirm its strength and displacement is safe. Modal analysis of the impeller with and without centrifugal force load are made. Thus it provides the reference for the impeller antivibration design.
