Not only China's economic and social development is restricted by water resources shortage and water pollution, but also the people's health, the social harmony and stability. The effluent in traditional biological wastewater treatment plant should be post-treated by tertiary treatment in order to be reused, such as further filtration, activated carbon adsorption, disinfection, reverse osmosis, and so on. Nowaday, the membrane bioreactor (MBR) makes wastewater reuse economicly through its simple structure and automation control system,and effluent do not contain suspended material and pathogenic micro-organisms.A new type membrane bioreactor (GS-MBR) with automatic control sysytem, which constructed mainly by sequenical batch bioreactor (SBR) and membrane module unit, was developed in this research work. GS-MBR was pressure-driven by the head of the mixture of the set-up, saving energy consumption and operation costs. Also, the system with simple structure, no sludge returning equipment, flexible operation mode, fine effluent quality, will certainly promote the membrane bioreactor technology in China's urban sewage treatment and recycling fields.The GS-MBR PLC control system was composed of PLC, relays, and solenoids, realizing the timing control. At the same time,on the study of metrology wastewater biological treatment,and summarized on the basis of preliminary laboratory GS-MBR test data,developed GS-MBR optimization software,it can determine the characteristics of the operational processes of the best time and operation of the form by the wastewater characteristics and effluent request.The automatic control system applies not only to small GS-MBR technology test, pilot studies, and has a strong practical significance and value.The operation method was introduced as follows: the supernatant of SBR after biodegradation flowed into the membrane module, the effluent fluxed through the membrane, at the meatime the membrane module was cleaned by the aeration pump. The SBR operation mode was decided as follows: instant inflow, anaerobic 3 h, total effective biotreatment volume was 50%.The results show that GS-MBR was stably high in nitrogen removal in the sewage treatment with low COD. Also, phosphorus removal can get rapid increasement through suplying carbon resource and, optimizing the GS-MBR controlling system to meet the requirements of nitrogen and phosphorus removal.Through nearly six months, results showed that the GS-MBR automatic control system composed by the PLC, relays, solenoids, and other components of automation control devices,is stable, unmanned automatic, and also can expandDO,PH,and other sensors to achieve feedback optimal control.
