The plasma treatment is a cleaning technology with great potential for textile production. Compared with the traditional dyeing and finishing process, plasma technology can greatly reduce the consumption of water, steam, energy and chemicals, therefore, pollution burden to environment is greatly lessened. What's more, when plasma treating the fabric, the reaction only happens in the depth ranging from more than 10A|°to several thousand A|°, so it doesn't affect the bulk property of fabric.SEMI-APGD (atmospheric pressure glow discharge) treatment of cotton and the polyester/cotton blended woven fabrics were carried out in this paper. The desizing ratio, capillary effect, weight loss of grey fabric treated with different discharge time and different electrode plate gap were determined. The results showed that the desizing ratio, capillary effect and weight loss gradually increased with discharge time prolongation. However, the above three indicators remained almost unchanged if discharge time extended to some degree. As for the influence of electrode plate gap, the three indicators would decrease with gap enlarging. On this basis, the possibility of plasma process that could replace the traditional alkali process had been studied, the experiments indicated the plasma process could attain similar results as the traditional alkali process did, while the former needed less alkali addition. Furthermore, plasma treatment could impart the fabrics softer handle and less tensile strength loss.In order to realize ecological pretreatment process, enzyme treatment was carried out combined with plasma treatment. The results were compared with those treated with enzyme individually. The research showed that the combination of plasma and enzyme pretreatment could apparently get the better results than the solo enzyme do. Sometimes it could even acquire the same results as that of traditional alkali process. Only when it came to pure cotton fabric, after dealt with plasma plus one-bath enzyme process, it still needed to be treated with 6g/L alkali to satisfy the requirement of following process such as dyeing and finishing. Finally, the subject investigated the application of plasma on linen chemical grafting, we firstly discussed the influence of plasma treatment on the grafting ratio of acrylic acid on linen fabric under different conditions. Then we compared the dye-uptake and dye fastness of fabric before and after grafting. It was found that the acrylic acid grafting could impart the linen fabric better dye fastness and better dye-uptake.
