Bosten Lake, the largest fresh water lake inland of China, is located in the southeast of Yangqi Basin in Xinjiang. As the end of Kaidu River and the beginning of Kongque River, Bosten Lake plays an important role in agricultural and industrial production and human livings in Yangqi Basin, Korla city and Yuli County due to its multi-functions: allocation of Kaidu River water resource, agricultural irrigation by Peacock River, industrial and rural & suburb water consumption, ecosystem environmental protection and emergent conversion into mid- and down-stream of Tarim River. However, in the past dozens of years, Bosten Lake has been increasingly contaminated due to increase of local population, rapid industrial and agricultural development and annual increase of pollutants discharged into the lake. Therefore, it is very meaningful to research on controlling the water environmental capacity and total discharged pollutants. The content and research result are as follows:1. On the basis of research on pollution source and current discharge in the beginning of Bosten Lake, main problems and water quality in the water environment are analyzed. A Single-factor Evaluation Method is used to identify main pollutants affecting the water quality. Nemerow Pollution Index Method is used to analyze the pollution in different positions.2. Using of Mass-budgets Method associated with the data observed in Bosten Lake, pollutant equilibrium equation is established to analyze the composition of several main pollutants CODCr, BOD5, TN and TP.3. Propose some measures in detail to treat the polluted lake's water.
