Owing to the unique structures and excellent properties, nanomaterials especially one-dimensional nanomaterials have various potential applications such as nanodevices, photocatalysis, sensors and batteries.Nanosized cuprous(Cu2O)oxide is a kind of important inorganic material. Its forbidden band gap is about 2.0 eV,which is smaller than that for TiO2.It can be excitated by the light of 600 nm.Under the illumination of visible light,it can induce the photocatalytic reaction. In this dissertation, Cu2O nanomaterials with different morphology on copper substrates were synthesized through electrochemical routes with the presence of soft template. The synthesis, characterization and application of the samples were well investigated. The details are as follow.1.Large scale 1D array Cu2O nanoneedles were fabricated by direct oxidation of copper foil. The oriented Cu2O nanoneedles were characterized by SEM,XRD,XPS,BET.The property of photocathodic reduction of oxygen on Cu2O/Cu contacts was investigated. It shows that 1D array Cu2O displays a much higher photocurrent than particle ones.2.The formation of self-assembly flowerlike Cu2O on copper substrate was achieved by the control of the external applied current. The concentration of CTAB and NaOH plays key roles in the formation of the flowerlike morphology.A kinetically process termed !nucleation-growth-dissolution-recrystallization5 mechanism may be suitable to explain the formation process..3.1D array Cu2O nanostructure on brassiness has been prepared and utilized to kill the algae under solar light. It can overcome the shortcomings of traditional algae killers. For example, the traditional ones are not easily fixed and result in the secondary pollutions. The feasibility tests have been explored from the aspects of the application ways, expense and environment effect. The experiment results show the materials have effective and reproducible capacities.4.A electrochemical method for the preparation of TiO2 nanotubes beaded with Cu2O has been developed through the change of the solution components in anodic cell. The highest degradation efficiency up to 54.8%was obtained for the degradation of reactive brilliant red X-3B when the composite contains 3 wt%Cu2O under the visible light after 100 minutes. Cu2O decorated with TiO2 can accelerate the rate of transferring electron to oxygen, resulting in better stability and higher efficiency.
