As one of the most important index to evaluate the comfort property of garment textiles, more and more consumers pay attention to air permeability. This paper choose traditional material like silk, cotton and new garment material such as silk-like fine denier polyester and soybean fabrics as research element to discuss the factors from the angle of material itself and machine process which affect air permeability. In this paper, we first use formal methods to test the specification of the material, and then discuss the relations between air permeability and some factors included in specification. According to the theory on warp and weft yarn interlace in textile, we get sectional images of textiles through experiment, together with some related computer software, the average aperture rate in the direction of warp and weft can be reached to help analyze air permeability influencing factors. Second, we select CFP-1100-AI multifunctional aperture apparatus to test textile pore diameter in order to solve the problem that air permeability and one of the specification has no distinctive relation. The experimental datum shows that there is an distinctive relation between mean flow pore diameter and air permeability: the bigger the mean flow pore diameter, the better the air permeability. On the basis of mathematical function established to testify air permeability and layers of fabrics, we discuss the permeability relation between the outside and inside layers. At last this paper analyze whether the air permeability has some relation with shrinkage and the washing times, and the experiment testify it did. This paper choose varies of light-minded woven fabrics to quantify the difference and changing trend of air permeability which help to celebrate a better combination of textile design and garment use .
