The high pressure abrasive water jet finishing is a new technology of non-traditional machining technics. As a new technology of non-traditional machining technics, the high pressure abrasive water jet finishing has a quite wide application foreground owing to many of its strong points. By theoretic analysis, flow field characteristics of the high pressure abrasive water jet will directly affect finishing quality and efficiency. For avoiding blindness of experimental research and improving foresight of practical application, The thesis studies on the high pressure abrasive water jet flow field characteristics in and out the nozzle by numerical simulation, and so it has an a important application value in optimizing nozzle configuration, choosing jet method and processing parameters.The thesis concentrates to the following contents: study the turbulent model, multiphase flow model and the method of numerical computation for the high pressure abrasive water jet in and out the nozzle; analyze the basic knowledge of the high pressure abrasive water jet; expatiate the basic knowledge of the high pressure abrasive water jet finishing; do systemic numerical simulation for the high pressure abrasive water jet flow field in the nozzle, the non-submerged high pressure abrasive water free jet flow field out the nozzle, the non-submerged high pressure abrasive water impinging jet flow field out the nozzle, the submerged high pressure abrasive water free jet flow field out the nozzle and the submerged high pressure abrasive water impinging jet flow field out the nozzle via CFD.Through the theoretic analysis, the factors which influence the effect of high pressure abrasive water jet finishing can be obtained. Through the numerical simulation, The visualizing pictures and simulation results were analyzed and researched, the jet characteristics of flow field in and out the nozzle were inspected, the influence of the nozzle structural parameters to the flow field characteristics, and that of the nozzle outlet-velocity, impinging height to jet axial velocity , and that of nozzle outlet-velocity, impinging height, impinging angle to impinging pressure of wall were analyzed, The jet characteristics comparisons between submersion and non-submersion were performed.The results of this simulation will accumulate some helpful materials for later experiment and equipment designed.
