Transfer roller, as major components on strip steel transferring of hot-strip mill, have high consumption and accounts. The chief reason of transfer roller's failure is that heat expansion in strip steel transferring process, which is caused by temperature increment , makes bearings in roller end hanged. For exactly forecasting temperature changes during transfer roller's working process and improving its use characteristics, discussing and controlling transfer roller's inner temperature is necessary to assure rollers operation normally.This paper takes middle transfer roller between roughing mill group and finishing mill group in one hot rolling factory as investigated subject, considering boundary condition for moved body such as air cooled, contact heat conduction and radiative transfer between hot strip mill and transfer roller, the paper builds and analyzes two-dimension temperature field of hot strip mill transfer roller in and out temperature holding hood by finite element method. The model can achieve dynamic analysis and exact calculation of continuous caster temperature field, forecast transient temperature of the caster when transfer slate and air cooled, and obtain the time when transfer roller reach heat balance.On the base of two-dimension transfer roller model, building three-dimension overall model of roller (as a result of the structure and the temperature field symmetry, only takes a half of the roller ) to carry on the temperature field analysis, obtaining roller's whole temperature field when the body of roll achieve thermal equilibrium, then establishing sub-model to bearings of the roller end (fixed end), refining bearing part unit, taking the hot analysis results from three-dimension overall model of roller as the boundary constraint condition applied to sub-model, obtaining the roller end and the bearing part temperature change conditions and the reasonable heat flow density value, discussing roller end and bearing cycle cooling time and cooling water volume of the roll neck through the simulation result.
