| Condensation of o-aminophenol with 5-t-Bu-pyrrole-2-aldehyde and benzoylacetone led to the formation of o-(OH)C6H4-N=CH-2-(5-t-Bu -C4H2NH) (HL1,1) and o-(OH)C6H4-N=C(CH3)CH2COPh (HL2, 2) respectively. In addition, the reaction of 5-t-Bu-pyrrole-2-aldehyde with 2,6-diisopropylaniline afforded another ligand R-N=CH-2-(5-t-Bu-C4H2NH) (R = 2,6-i-Pr2C6H3, HL3, 3). Treatment of HL1 and HL2 with TiCl4 in THF generated respectively (THF)Ti-Cl4[O-o-C6H4-N+H=CH-2-(5-t-Bu-C4H2NH)] 4 and (THF)TiCl2[-O-o-C6H4NH=C(CH3)CH=C(Ph)-O-] 5 (2). The reaction of HL3 with one equivalent of NaH in THF produced R-N=CH-2-(5-t-Bu-C4H2NNa) (R = 2,6-i-Pr2C6H3) (L3Na). The bis(pyrrolylaldiminato)complex [2-(2,6-i-Pr2C6H3N=CH)-5-t-Bu-C4H2N]2Ni (6) of nickel was synthesized by the reaction of trans-bis(triphenylphosphine) phenylchoronickel(â…¡) with L3Na. Complexes 4 and 5 were characterized by IR,1H NMR and MS spectra. The molecular structures of 4 , 5 and 6 were determined by X-ray single crystal diffraction analysis. Furthermore, some spectral properties of compounds 1, 2, 4 and 5 have been observed by Ultraviolet and Visible Spectra. The brief study for ethylene polymerization of 4 and 5 were carried out. |
